Job summary

MePA is seeking an Inpatient Mental Health Registered Nurse for a VA-affiliated role in Des Moines, IA. The RN will deliver patient-centered care, lead nursing processes, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

Responsibilities include medication administration, care coordination, and participation in education, safety rounds, and de-escalation strategies within a hospital setting. Strong English proficiency and active nursing licensure required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program with active U.S. licensure.
• Proficiency in English as required for VA nursing roles.
• Ability to obtain state nursing licensure and work under VA policies.
• Understanding of EDRP eligibility and related procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide and supervise nursing care following the nursing process.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team to support patient education and self-management.
• Administer medications and procedures per policy and guidelines.
• Participate in shift reports, hand-offs, and psychoeducational groups.
• Engage in de-escalation, recovery-oriented language, and environment of care rounds.
