Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham is seeking a licensed pharmacist to provide inpatient pharmacy services for hematology and bone marrow transplant patients, monitor therapy, education, and medication distribution.

The role requires reviewing orders for safety, documenting medication history, coordinating with physicians and nursing staff, and supporting educational programs for residents. This is a full-time, on-site position at UAB Hospital.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required.

Responsibilities

• Assess the appropriateness of each medication based on diagnosis, allergies, and medication history; review for adverse drug reactions and interactions.
• Monitor patient response to prescribed therapies; re-evaluate therapy and recommend changes when appropriate.
• Document patient medication history and notify physicians or staff of issues regarding compliance or therapy.
• Ensure responsible distribution of medications and triage orders for patient care.
• Provide drug information to patients, families, and healthcare professionals; share literature updates to optimize medication use.
• Support educational programs by precepting PGY1 and PGY2 residents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
