Job summary

Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston is seeking a Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider to join the main campus team. The APP provides consultative expertise to requesting providers on GI services for inpatients, follows patients through admission, and helps schedule outpatient GI follow-up as needed.

You will collaborate with GI physicians, fellows, and nursing staff, document in EPIC, manage triage, and perform bedside procedures as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Proficient in taking medical histories to assess conditions.
• Able to react calmly in emergencies and triage appropriately.
• Strong communication with patients, families, and staff.
• Coordinate care across inpatient and outpatient teams.
• Document care meticulously in the EPIC system.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care, counseling, and teaching across ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and procedural settings.
• Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops care plans and follow-up strategies based on findings.
• Orders medications and writes prescriptions per policies.
• Maintains high-quality timely documentation (admissions, progress notes, procedures, discharges).
• Performs bedside procedures appropriate to patient needs.
