Job summary

Advocate Health's Carolinas Medical Center Mercy - Exercise Physiology team is hiring a full-time inpatient Exercise Physiologist. You will assess, plan and direct patient mobilization and exercise programs in an inpatient setting, coordinating with nursing and therapy staff.

The role requires experience in exercise assessment and programming, strong communication with patients and families, and the ability to respond to emergencies. Schedule is 36 hours per week (Sunday through Wednesday).

Qualifications

• Experience in exercise assessment and programming for healthy and diseased populations.
• Group and individual instruction and counseling on healthy lifestyles.
• 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Hearing (corrected) adequate for communication with patients and staff.
• Vision (corrected) adequate for reading and tasks.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and performs patient mobilization and exercise programs.
• Assesses patient readiness for mobilization by reviewing medical records.
• Coordinates care with nursing and therapy services.
• Explains mobilization roles to patient/family; verifies orders and patient identity.
• Monitors performance and tolerance; adjusts plan as needed.
• Assesses and measures appropriate durable medical equipment.
• Documents daily treatment notes and patient/family education.
• Notifies staff of changes in patient condition and response to treatment.
• Communicates patient status to nursing, clinical staff, and managers.
• Coordinates care with patient schedule and treatment; responds to emergencies.
