Job summary

Gundersen Health System seeks a Denials and Coding Specialist – DRG Hospital Inpatient in a 1.0 FTE role based in Wisconsin. The position focuses on DRG denials, inpatient coding accuracy, and DRG assignments across Gundersen and Bellin regions. Remote eligibility is available after on-site start in La Crosse, WI, with residency required in WI, IA, or MN.

40 hours weekly, Monday–Friday dayshift. Starting pay is $24.36/hour with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2 years hospital coding experience (emergency, outpatient, professional services, or inpatient coding) required
• DRG experience preferred
• One of CIC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA or COC with 2 years inpatient coding experience is required

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records to assess coding accuracy
• Support appeal processes
• Ensure accurate ICD-10-CM coding and DRG assignment reflecting patient severity and level of care
