Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join the inpatient nutrition team. The role involves rounds, interdisciplinary collaboration, and delivering medical nutrition therapy.

You will develop care plans in the EHR, educate staff and patients, mentor dietetic interns, and participate in performance improvement and research projects.

A California RD license, a Nutrition/Dietetics degree, and internship are required, with experience in high-acuity settings preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have Bachelor's in Foods and Nutrition/Dietetics and completed Academy internship.
• Licensed Registered Dietitian in California.
• Two years of experience in comparable acuity level.
• In-depth knowledge of evaluation, assessment and nutritional therapy within specialty areas.
• Knowledge and skills to consult on quality improvement.
• Excellent skills in teamwork with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams.

Responsibilities

• Attend rounds and work with interdisciplinary team.
• Provide nutrition support (enteral and parenteral) recommendations.
• Develop, implement and record nutrition care plans in the EHR for all assigned patients.
• Foster continuity of care across all phases of the continuum of care.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and research.
• Provide nutrition lectures and in-services to staff as assigned.
• Mentor dietetic interns/students.
• Assist with foodservice projects to improve patient satisfaction.
