Job summary

Joslin Diabetes Center, part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, seeks a Clinical Diabetes Educator – Registered Nurse for inpatient work at BIDMC. You will deliver diabetes self-management education to hospitalized patients and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to prepare patients for safe discharge and ongoing management.

The role combines expert nursing care with education on insulin therapy, glucose monitoring, and diabetes technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and MA RN license are required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized diabetes education, assessment, care planning, and ongoing support to patients and families in inpatient care.
• Educate patients on diabetes management, nutrition, exercise, glucose monitoring, and medications.
• Provide training and support on diabetes technologies, including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust nursing care and education plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
