Responsibilities include auditing records, educating physicians and staff to ensure complete documentation, and handling queries and education to improve coding accuracy and reimbursement.

Qualifications

• 4 - 5 years experience with ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding including hospital inpatient medical records
• Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology
• 4 - 5 years Experience calculating and analyzing MS-DRG, DRG, APC, and other payer reimbursement methodologies
• 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or related medical degree (Required)

Responsibilities

• Audit facility-based inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS codes for billing and compliance
• Educate physicians and clinical staff to ensure complete documentation and resolve documentation gaps
• Query physicians to resolve incomplete or conflicting information to ensure compliant coding
• Research audit results, errors, denials, and implement corrective actions and education
