Job summary

Phoebe Putney Health System is seeking an experienced Acute Inpatient Coding Auditor with hospital inpatient coding and auditing expertise. The role focuses on facility inpatient services, DRG/ICD-10-CM/PCS accuracy, and documentation review to ensure compliant coding and billing practices.

The candidate will educate physicians and staff, resolve documentation gaps, and contribute to training materials to enhance coding workflow and reimbursement integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related medical degree; or an Associate degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
• 4-5 years experience with ICD-9, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding including hospital inpatient records.
• Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology.

Responsibilities

• Audits medical record documentation and coding to extract data and determine ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS codes for billing, reporting, and compliance.
• Educates physicians and staff to ensure complete documentation and resolves coding/discrepancies to ensure compliant practices.
• Researches audit results, fixes denials, and develops training materials to improve coding accuracy.
