Job description

*Inpatient Medical Coder*

Type: Remote

Requires strong expertise in DRG (Diagnoses Related Group), APR, SOI (Severity of Illness), and ROM (Risk of Mortality).

Description

• The Coding Auditor 1 is proficient in various coding types and performs coding quality audits, providing feedback to coders.
• Utilizes ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, CPT, and other coding references to ensure accurate coding.
• Uses coding references to ensure correct classification and grouping (e.g., MS-DRG, APR-DRG, APC).

Essential Functions

• Performs routine coding quality reviews on all coders, including third-party suppliers.
• Collaborates with internal teams for coding quality reviews and provides constructive feedback.
• Abstracts and validates data elements into the coding system.
• Works with Clinical Documentation Specialists to improve documentation accuracy and completeness.
• Completes production coding as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certifications: CCS, CCS-P, CIC, CIRCC
• Registrations: RHIA, RHIT

Pay and Benefits

The pay range is $36.00 - $38.00/hr. Benefits may include:
