Job description

Inpatient Medical Coder

Type: Remote

Requirements: Strong knowledge of DRG (Diagnoses Related Group), experience with APR, SOI (Severity of Illness), and ROM (Risk of Mortality)

Description

• The Coding Auditor 1 is proficient in various types of coding and performs coding quality audits, providing feedback to coders.
• Utilizes ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, CPT, and other coding references to ensure accurate coding.
• Uses coding references to ensure accurate classification and grouping (e.g., MS-DRG, APR-DRG, APC).

Essential Functions

• Performs routine coding quality reviews on all coders, including third-party suppliers.
• Collaborates with or reviews coding for internal customers.
• Provides feedback based on audit findings.
• Abstracts and validates data into the coding system.
• Works with Clinical Documentation Specialists to improve documentation accuracy and completeness.
• Completes production coding as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certifications such as CCS, CCS-P, CIC, CIRCC, RHIA, RHIT are preferred.

Pay and Benefits

Pay range: $36.00 - $38.00/hr. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability, HSA, transportation, EAP, PTO, and more, subject to eligibility and plan specifics.
