Job description

Inpatient Medical Coder

Type: Remote

Requirements: Strong in DRG (Diagnoses Related Group) with experience in APR, SOI (Severity of Illness), and ROM (Risk of Mortality)

Description
  • The Coding Auditor 1 is proficient in various types of coding, responsible for performing coding quality audits, and providing feedback to coders.
  • Utilizes ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, CPT, and other references to ensure accurate coding.
  • Uses coding references to ensure accurate classification assignments (e.g., MS-DRG, APR-DRG, APC).
Essential Functions
  • Performs routine coding quality reviews on all coders, including third-party suppliers.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to review and improve coding accuracy.
  • Provides constructive feedback based on audit findings.
  • Abstracts and validates data elements into the system.
  • Works with Clinical Documentation Specialists to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
  • Completes production coding as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Certifications: CCS, CCS-P, CIC, CIRCC, RHIA, RHIT.
  • Must reside in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, or Florida.
Pay and Benefits

Pay range: $36.00 - $38.00/hr. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability, HSA, transportation, EAP, PTO, and more. Eligibility and specifics depend on employment status and location.
