Job summary

Virtual Vocations Inc. is seeking a full-time Inpatient Coder (Remote) to code and abstract clinical information from medical records for assigned facilities, while supporting quality reviews and training new coders.

The role requires an Associate or higher degree in Health Information Management, and preference for AHIMA credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS). 1–3 years inpatient coding experience and proficiency with MS Office and EMR systems are expected.

Qualifications

• Associates or higher-level degree in a Health Information Management discipline.
• Completion of AHIMA credential program preferred (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, etc.).
• 1–3 years of inpatient coding experience.

To ensure accurate coding and data integrity, the full-time Inpatient Coder - Remote will manage the coding and abstracting of clinical information from medical records for assigned facilities while assisting with quality reviews and training new coders.

Key responsibilities

• Review flagged cases for coding accuracy and assist in quality reviews and audits
• Participate in coding education and maintain professional coding credentials

Required qualifications

• Associates or higher-level degree in a Health Information Management discipline
• Successful completion of at least one AHIMA certified program with a relevant professional credential preferred (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, etc.)
• 1-3 years of inpatient coding experience
• Skilled and knowledgeable in MS Office suite
• Strong technical background and experience with electronic medical records
