Job summary

Zekai is seeking Inpatient Coders (CCS) for 100% remote contract work in the United States. You will review inpatient records, ensure ICD-10 and CPT accuracy, and evaluate AI-generated notes against coding standards.

Preferred candidates hold CCS, CIC, COC, RHIA, or RHIT credentials and have ICD-10 experience. Availability of at least 10 hours per week is required for this ongoing project.

Qualifications

• Active certification CCS/CIC/COC/RHIA/RHIT or AHIMA/AAPC certification.
• ICD-10 coding experience required.
• Currently working in medical coding or CDS-related role.
• Available for at least 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient records to ensure accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding per guidelines.
• Review clinical docs for accuracy, completeness, and coding integrity.
• Evaluate AI-generated notes against coding standards.
• Code AI-generated information using ICD and CPT/HCPCS systems.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in diagnosis and procedure coding.
• Enter AI-generated patient data into inpatient records databases.

Role Title: Inpatient Coder (CCS)

Role Type: Contractor

Location: United States, Remote

our partner is engaging Inpatient Coders to contribute to a valued project focused on enhancing clinical coding accuracy and data quality. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input.

Scope of Work

• Review and analyze inpatient medical records to ensure accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding in alignment with current guidelines and best practices.
• Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and coding integrity.
• Evaluate AI-generated clinical notes and summaries against real-world documentation and coding standards.
• Code AI-generated diagnostic and procedural information from the record using ICD and CPT/HCPCS classification systems.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in diagnosis and procedure coding, ensuring the integrity of record abstraction and data capture.
• Enter AI-generated patient information into computerized inpatient and outpatient medical record databases.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active certification in one of the following: CCS, CIC, COC, RHIA, or RHIT or other coding certification through AHIMA and AAPC.
• ICD-10 coding experience.
• Access to up-to-date official ICD-10 and CPT coding books, as well as E&M guidelines.
• Currently working in medical coding, clinical documentation improvement, or a closely related documentation role
• Availability of at least 10 hours per week
