Job summary

Cullman Regional Medical Center Inc is seeking a skilled medical coder to analyze medical records and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes following coding guidelines. This role supports the hospital revenue cycle, performs DRG reviews, and contributes to documentation improvement while collaborating with care teams to ensure patient safety and quality.

Candidates should have formal medical coding training and certifications (CCA, CCS, RHIT or RHIA) and at least one year of coding

Qualifications

• Completion of medical coding from an approved health information technology program.
• Certification as CCA, CCS, RHIT or RHIA.
• Minimum of one year of coding experience.

Job Summary:Analyze medical records to assign appropriate diagnosis codes following coding guidelines.Analyze medical records to assign appropriate procedure codes following coding guidelines.Perform analysis of medical records to perform medical record abstraction.Assist in the hospital revenue cycle.Perform concurrent reviews of patient medical records to perform DRG reviews and documentation improvement as needed.Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.Education:Completion of medical coding from an approved health information technology program, currently a Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Management (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).Experience:Minimum of one (1) year of coding experience .Additional Skills/Abilities:Analytical skills; strong computer skills; ability to multitask; detail oriented; good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; working knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology are necessary.
