The Central Pharmacy Manager is a dynamic entry or mid-level management position that oversees the core of Stanford Hospital Pharmacy Services. The Central Pharmacy Manager oversees the provision medication and clinical services with a Team of 6 other Pharmacy Managers to nearly 800 patients daily at our Academic Medical Center and level I trauma center in the heart of the Silicon Valley. The Central Pharmacy Managers oversees a team of highly engaged clinical pharmacists which provide supports for medication dispensing, pharmacy automation (Swisslog BoxPickers and PillPick), 250 hospital-wide Omnicells, KitCheck, controlled substances, and drug shortages.

Additionally, the Central Pharmacy Manager provides clinical insights into cost avoidance and efficiency initiatives while working with a tight-knit group of pharmacy managers. In this role, the candidate will continue to gain experience through real world situations, mentoring, coaching and trainings that are available monthly.

This position will work with pharmacy students, pharmacy residents and a highly engaged group of pharmacy technicians, and has unparalleled opportunities for conference attendance, providing presentations, submitting publications and even participating in podcasts.

This position manages the efficient and effective operations of pharmacy services. The individual also supervises and manages the associated personnel staff.

What You Will Do

  • Interprets and enforces established policies and procedures, creates new policies and procedures, designs and implements performance improvement initiatives that enhance safety, environmental, and infection control.
  • Provides oversight to pharmacy personnel with respect to the goals and objectives of the Pharmacy Department in collaboration with the leadership team to improve services provided and assures compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Design, implement, and monitor pharmacy practices to optimize medication management outcomes for patients.
  • Supervises and manages the technical support staff and staff clinical pharmacists.
  • Participates in Informatics meeting discussions and practice implementation relative to workflow processes to include validation of protocols and ERX records where applicable.
  • Partners across the organization to develop and implement solutions designed to improve member/client satisfaction; streamline processes between organizations for improved service delivery.
  • Reviews department performance, effects changes in collaboration with the pharmacy leadership team to improve services provided and assures compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals to address issues related to patient drug therapy through the process of mutual information sharing, discussion, and decision making.
  • Oversees training programs for pharmacy staff, residents, and students.

Education Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of California State Board of Pharmacy Laws and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Title 22 regulations.
  • Knowledge of eMS regulations, both state and federal.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and Skill in the use of establishing policies and in writing procedures and communication to coworkers.
  • Ability to interpret new laws, guidelines as applied to the practice of Pharmacy.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and guidelines as applicable to the practice of Pharmacy.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed as a Pharmacist by the California Board of Pharmacy within 120 Days

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $86.41 - $114.50 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
