Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is a leading university-affiliated medical center offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services. We seek a Patient Care Technician/Senior Nursing Attendant for Inpatient Holding, full-time evenings, to support nursing staff and ensure compassionate patient care.

The role emphasizes safety, infection control, and patient comfort, with duties spanning phlebotomy, glucose testing, ECGs, and aiding in patient admissions, transfers and discharges.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Graduate of a PCT program with at least 6 months hospital experience.
• CNA graduate with EKG & Phlebotomy coursework and PCT certification eligible.
• PCT Certification through NHA with at least 6 months hospital experience.
• BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required upon entry.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates NYU Langone Health Core Values in duties.

• Assist in data collection for unit Quality & Performance Improvement.
• Support the nurse in patient care and in response to patient/family needs.
• Carry out tasks including phlebotomy, fingersticks for glucose, ECGs as assigned.
• Maintain infection prevention and control standards; ensure unit safety and cleanliness.
• Assist in admissions, transfers and discharges per unit operations.
• Communicate with patients, families and staff in a respectful manner.

Education

High School graduate or equivalent

PCT program with 6 months hospital experience

CNA with EKG & Phlebotomy course + PCT cert eligible + 6 months hospital experience

PCT Certification through NHA with 6 months hospital experience
