Job summary

The Carpenter Health Network – Restorative’s Post Acute Care Division is seeking a full-time Hospital Inpatient Biller/Collection Specialist to join our Baton Rouge team. You will handle inpatient claims, ensure timely submissions, monitor status, and work to maximize reimbursements.

Ideal candidates have hospital billing experience, strong knowledge of payer guidelines, and excellent communication skills to support internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-year hospital billing and collection experience.
• Strong understanding of institutional reimbursement methodologies.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other payor guidelines for reimbursement.
• Experience with UB-04 requirements.
• Ability to interpret remittance advice, contracts, and payer correspondence.
• Proficiency with clearinghouses and payor portals.
• Strong organizational skills for high AR volumes.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong computer and software skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit claims accurately and timely.
• Monitor claim status through payer portals, clearinghouses, and internal RCM systems.
• Investigate, resolve claim rejections, denials, underpayments and payment variances.
• Submit corrected claims, appeals, reconsiderations, as necessary.
• Post payments/collections to accounts.
• Analyze remittance advices and EOBs to identify reimbursement discrepancies.
• Follow up AR to secure payment on outstanding accounts, including patient statements.
• Review accounts for adjustments, write-offs, and contractual allowances.
• Document all account activity in the billing/RCM system.
• Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and payer regulations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include

• Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer billing regulations.
