Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Waco seeks a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support nursing staff and help provide comprehensive psychiatric care in both inpatient and outpatient settings for adults and seniors.

The BHT performs routine patient care tasks, conducts vital-sign checks, assists with activities of daily living, documents observations, and communicates findings to the nursing team, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Adheres to policies and procedures and follows Joint Commission standards.
• Demonstrates de-escalation and therapeutic intervention techniques as needed.
• Accurately inventories patient belongings and maintains unit safety.
• Documents patient observations, vital signs, nutrition intake and care activities with accuracy and timeliness.

Responsibilities

• Support nursing staff to maintain a therapeutic milieu.
• Assist with vital signs, ADL, meal and nutrition monitoring.
• Document and communicate patient status to the nurse in charge.
• Ensure patient comfort, safety and adherence to care plans.
• Perform assigned duties and projects as directed by licensed staff.
