Job summary

Universal Health Services (UHS) in El Paso, TX, seeks a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to support treatment teams with continuous patient care, supervision and interaction for patients from children to geriatrics depending on unit needs. Works under a Registered Nurse and contributes to a safe, therapeutic environment.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or CNA, a degree in a therapeutic field or related training, 2 years’ psychiatric care experience (preferred), Handle With Care training

Qualifications

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or appropriate therapeutic discipline.
• Two (2) years of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness (preferred).
• Handle With Care Training within 90 days of employment and CPR Certification are required; overtime may be needed.

Responsibilities

• MHT functions as part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling under RN supervision.
