Job summary

Hartgrove Behavioral Health System in Chicago seeks a Behavioral Health Specialist to provide direct patient care under RN supervision, delivering a safe, therapeutic milieu and crisis intervention. You will assist with activities of daily living and monitor patients closely.

Ideal candidates will have at least 1 year in mental health, with a high school diploma and 5+ years related psychiatric experience; CNA/EMT preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required, with 5+ years of psychiatric experience.
• Associates degree accepted along with comparable experience.
• One year of experience in the mental health field.
• CNA or EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform crisis intervention techniques and respond to code situations.
• Monitor patient safety with continuous rounds every 15 minutes.
• Therapeutically communicate with patients.
• Assess and communicate the physical and psychological status of patients.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living when needed.
