Job summary

Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC, seeks a Recreation Therapist (CTRS) for its Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit. You will evaluate and plan therapeutic recreation programs to help patients reach maximum functioning and engage with a multidisciplinary care team.

Licensed in NC as a Recreational Therapist with NCTRC certification is required; Duke supports ongoing certifications and crisis prevention training. The unit uses four-week track scheduling to balance work and life.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy or equivalent.
• Licensure as Recreational Therapist by the North Carolina Board and NCTRC certification.
• Experience in inpatient behavioral health setting may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, plan and implement patient care programs for therapeutic recreation.
• Develop treatment plans based on evaluation findings and goals.
• Document progress with concise patient care evaluations and notes.
• Coordinate learning opportunities for Therapeutic Recreation students and supervise interns.
• Maintain unit milieu and respond to crisis or challenging behaviors as needed.
