Job summary

Horizon Health, a Horizon Health subsidiary of Universal Health Services, seeks a Director of Behavioral Health to lead the 16-bed inpatient unit at Abbeville General Hospital in Abbeville, LA. The role focuses on administration of patient care, nursing leadership, and contract management with the hospital.

You will supervise clinical and administrative staff, ensure regulatory compliance, develop policies, oversee budgeting, and drive quality improvement and marketing efforts for the program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or master's in social work/counseling required.
• Clinical license required.
• Crisis prevention competency.
• Engages in ongoing professional development through education and training.
• Maintains patient management protocol competencies and regulatory readiness.
• Knowledge of hospital policies, quality improvement and safety standards.
• Familiarity with hospital organizational structure and senior staff.

Responsibilities

• Liaises between Program, Hospital and Horizon to communicate needs.
• Provides leadership in line with hospital guidelines and program philosophy.
• Develops and updates policies and procedures with VP oversight.
• Ensures program compliance with federal, state, local and accrediting standards.
• Directs multidisciplinary teams to address process improvements for patients and staff.
• Oversees reporting, documentation, and patient symptom progress.
• Maintains compassionate environment and supports patients and families.
• Manages program budget and implements quality improvements.
