Job description

***This position is eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus for all new hires***
GENERAL SUMMARY:

Works under the supervision of a pharmacist to process orders for medications that require special handling, preparation, and/or accountability. The technician maintains expertise in the safe handling and use of such medications.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

- High school diploma or G.E.D.

- Valid Pharmacy Technician license from the State of Michigan.

- At least one year of experience as a Hospital or Retail Pharmacy Technician (retail experience applies only to medication history positions).

- Ability to maintain records and perform calculations.

- Ability to safely handle and manipulate cytotoxic and other special drugs, work aseptically in a vertical flow hood, and maintain Investigational Drug Research Records if applicable.

- Ability to maintain pharmacy inventory, deliver prescriptions, use a computer keyboard at approximately 25 WPM, and interpret medication literature to develop or modify departmental protocols.
