Job summary

Southcoast Health is seeking a Clinical Social Worker to join the inpatient Addiction Medicine Consult Service. You will perform psychosocial assessments, counseling, care coordination, discharge planning, and linkage to community-based addiction treatment for hospitalized patients.

Requirements include LICSW in Massachusetts, experience with SUD, and a commitment to stigma-free, evidence-based care. Position reports to the Director of Addiction Medicine within the Department of Medicine.

Qualifications

• A masters degree in social work from an accredited college or university.
• Prior experience working with SUD.
• Formal training or focused experience in addiction treatment, harm reduction, motivational interviewing or behavioral health.
• Experience in acute-care hospital or other medical setting.
• Knowledge of medications for substance use disorders and the continuum of addiction treatment.
• Familiarity with local treatment programs, community resources, harm reduction organizations and systems affecting access to care.
• Experience with electronic medical record documentation preferred.
• Current Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work (LICSW) is required.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial assessment, counseling, care coordination, resource navigation, discharge planning, and linkage to community-based addiction treatment.
• Collaborate with Addiction Medicine physicians, APPs and peer recovery coaches.
• Support hospitalized patients with substance use disorders through evidence-based, patient-centered care.
