Job summary

Gensler in Tampa is seeking a Designer to create beautiful, functional spaces while translating sketches into 2D/3D models. You will collaborate with project teams to develop design solutions through all phases, from programming to construction documentation and administration, coordinating with structural, MEP, lighting, and landscape consultants.

You will mentor teammates, contribute to a culture of sustainable design, and participate in client and vendor communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program.
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience with interior architecture / interior design, inclusive of 1+ years of workplace/office space interior design.
  • Proficiency with Revit, SketchUp, and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with 3-D, Enscape, VRay, Grasshopper, Rhino or other visualization software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and/or SPEXX is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures.
  • Hand rendering skills to communicate design concepts are a plus.
  • Outstanding conceptual 3-dimensional thinking and graphic presentation skills to effectively communicate design ideas.
  • Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development.
  • Ability to communicate design ideas and direction.
  • A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills.
  • Licensed Architect and/or NCIDQ certification are strongly preferred
  • LEED accreditation is a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices; portfolios should include at least one project with LEED or related certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on interior architecture and interior design projects across programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and budgets/schedules.
  • Design and deliver functional and beautiful workplaces for technology, financial services, professional services, and others.
  • Participate in selection and presentation of FF&E, color palettes, and decorative lighting.
  • Generate concepts for finish plans, lighting plans, materials, and millwork.
  • Coordinate with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants.
  • Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, and officials.
  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to design challenges.
  • Maintain project manuals and specifications.
  • Conduct site visits, process submittals, substitutions, and RFIs during construction.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing client relationships.
