Hebrew Academy of The Five Towns and Rockaway in Lawrence, NY is seeking an experienced grade 4-8 STEM Teacher to join our team. The role focuses on developing developmentally appropriate STEM activities, experiences and assessments to foster academic and social growth.

The position entails teaching 16 periods weekly across Coding, Engineering and Design Thinking, coaching the middle school Robotics team, and collaborating with faculty to infuse STEM into core subjects while maintaining a safe,

Qualifications

• Must be comfortable with an inquiry based, hands-on PBL style classroom.
• Experience with some block based coding is a must. Language based coding, Arduino experience a plus.
• Passionate and dedicated to making STEM accessible and inclusive to students.
• Solutions-focused with strong communication and planning skills, a team player.
• A graduate of a Master’s Degree in Education program in relevant content area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach 16 class periods a week in STEM courses (Coding, Engineering, Design Thinking) for 4th–8th grade students.
• Coach middle school Robotics team, with options to expand to HS or LS.
• Collaborate with faculty to implement projects that infuse STEM into core subjects.
• Maintain a safe and organized learning space welcoming to multiple groups of students.
• Maintain equipment and lab inventory housed within the STEM Lab.
• Work with our STEM team to help integrate new modalities and interactives.
