Job summary

NOV is seeking a Mechanical Designer to develop 3D models and 2D drawings for new product concepts, collaborating with engineers and R&D teams to ensure designs meet customer requirements and manufacturing standards. You will produce detailed schematics, BOMs, and conduct design reviews to optimize manufacturability.

Applicants should have 4+ years in 3D modeling with SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Creo, GD&T knowledge, and strong problem‑solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or related field.
• 4+ years of professional experience creating 3D models and 2D drawings in an R&D environment.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Creo.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent problem‑solving and quick decision making under tight deadlines.
• Effective communication and teamwork across global locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Leader, Senior Designer or Design Engineer in selection of simpler components and detailed design.
• Layout and design specific areas as assigned per procedures and standards.
• Design general arrangements or base systems based on customer needs.
• Analyze data to determine feasibility of product proposal.
• Prepare or direct preparation of product or system layout with detailed drawings and schematics.
• Review work orders and manuals to determine critical content.
• Calculate figures to convert design dimensions for production processes.
• Assist in systems development such as drafting standards, parts list systems, or programming.
• Perform other related tasks and comply with NOV policies.
• Develop detailed 3D solid models using CAD software for new product concepts.
• Produce accurate 2D schematics, drawings, and BOMs from 3D models.
• Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to iterate designs and resolve challenges.
• Work independently and own designs from concept development to customer requirements.
• Ensure releases meet quality standards and global manufacturing requirements.
• Maintain design documentation and version control per NOC standards.
• Lead design reviews and provide feedback on manufacturability and cost.
