Job summary

STRATTEC SECURITY CORPORATION is seeking a highly skilled tooling designer to develop progressive stamping tooling and fixtures. You will diagnose and optimize existing tooling, assist with new construction, and ensure designs meet quality standards.

The role requires a minimum of five years in stamping tool design, strong CAD (SolidWorks) abilities, and ability to work in a team with designers, engineers and vendors. You will help drive standardization and efficiency across tooling projects.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in progressive stamping tool design and layout.
  • Familiarity with die cast processes is desired.
  • Strong understanding of tooling and manufacturing processes relating to the industry.
  • Proficient CAD skills, preferably 3-D tool design in SolidWorks; CAM exposure desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizes, plans and executes the design of progressive and modular stamping tooling.
  • Analyzes product designs for manufacturability and suggests improvements to reduce costs and lead times.
  • Specifies tooling components and ensures timely delivery of die sets and related items.
  • Collaborates with designers, process engineers, production staff, toolmakers and vendors to optimize tool design.
  • Maintains models and drawings for management and production teams.
