• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives aligned to State Standards.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that meet lesson objectives.
• Assess student progress using various methods and provide reports.
• Consult with district specialists regarding learning difficulties and referrals.
• Complies with federal regulations regarding students with special needs.
• Communicates with administration, parents and colleagues regularly.
• Assist the administration in implementing policies and procedures, including behavior rules.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
• Plan and oversee paraprofessional assignments in consultation with staff.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Discharge other duties as assigned.

Job description

TEACHER

Teachers report directly to the building level administration or designee. Qualifications for teaching are set by the NH Department of Education, Bureau of Credentialing.

Performance Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. Clear objectives that support State Standards will be established and communicated for all lessons, units, projects, and related activities.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting the stated lesson objectives.
• Assess the accomplishments of students using a variety of methods on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
• Consult with district specialists regarding students exhibiting learning difficulties and participate in the referral process for students with suspected learning disabilities.
• Complies with federal regulations regarding students with special needs.
• Communicates with administration, parents and colleagues on a regular basis.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and procedures, including the development of reasonable rules for behavior.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
• Plan and oversee purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals in consultation with appropriate staff (case manager, Title I project manager, Administration).
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
• To discharge such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
  
  

Conditions Of Employment

Salary, work year, and other conditions are contained in the current bargaining unit agreement. Performance for this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the School Board policy on the evaluation of professional personnel.
