Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives aligned to State Standards.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that meet lesson objectives.
• Assess student progress using various methods and provide reports.
• Consult with district specialists regarding learning difficulties and referrals.
• Complies with federal regulations regarding students with special needs.
• Communicates with administration, parents and colleagues regularly.
• Assist the administration in implementing policies and procedures, including behavior rules.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
• Plan and oversee paraprofessional assignments in consultation with staff.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Discharge other duties as assigned.
