Job summary

Carney, Sandoe & Associates is seeking a K-8 Physical Education Teacher to start in Fall 2026 at an independent school in Manhattan, NY. The role emphasizes creative PE instruction, a student-centered classroom, and collaboration with the school community.

The successful candidate will coach Middle School Cross Country and Track & Field, work with parents and colleagues to support student wellbeing, and bring passion and leadership to the PE program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physical education, exercise science and/or education is preferred.
• At least 2-3 years of previous K-12 teaching experience.
• No teaching license or credential is required.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.

Responsibilities

• Inspire a passion for physical activity and strategically utilize campus resources for creative PE classes.
• Foster a student-centered, 21st century classroom environment encouraging ideas beyond the classroom.
• Support individual students so they thrive academically.
• Collaborate with the PE department, learning services team, other faculty groups and administrators to plan and implement goals.
• Coach middle school Cross Country and Track & Field teams.
• Work with parents, teachers, colleagues and division heads to support student development.
• Possess strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
