Job summary

The Museum School of Avondale Estates seeks a full-time K-8 music/chorus teacher to develop hands-on general music for grades K-3 and chorus for grades 6-8, aligned with Georgia DOE standards. The teacher will collaborate with staff to integrate music across the curriculum through creative partnerships.

The school aims to inspire students and the community by combining museum-school innovation with strong critical thinking and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelors Degree; Degree in field of music education preferred.
• Georgia Music P-12 teaching certification required/preferred.
• Experience with elementary and middle grades students.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive music program that integrates music education with creativity and instrumental experiences.
• Develop GA DOE standards-aligned lessons and activities for K-3 and chorus for 6-8.
• Deliver instruction grounded in the Museum School model with hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
• Plan collaboratively with school staff to enrich units and prepare for Exhibit Nights.
• Collaborate with music staff to support performances and Learning Expeditions.
• Participate in Professional Development and grow a cohesive K–8 music program.
• Establish and maintain a proactive classroom management system.
• Reflect on practices and develop a Professional Growth Plan.
• Organize overnight middle school chorus trips and evening performances.
