Job summary

Nimitz HS in Irving ISD is seeking a dedicated high school science teacher for the 26-27 school year. The role is exempt, with 187 duty days and local funding, placed in the Teacher Salary pay grade.

The teacher helps students develop scientific understanding and critical thinking across the science disciplines. Responsibilities include planning aligned lessons, using data to guide instruction, collaborating with special education staff, managing the classroom, and communicating with families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate for the subject/level assigned.
• Completion of Texas Reading Academy required for Elementary.
• ESL Supplemental Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation.
• Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Access and use data to plan and implement instructional strategies, activities, and materials reflecting student needs (gifted, bilingual/ESL, 504, etc.).
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
• Plan and supervise assignments for aides and volunteers in the classroom.
• Use appropriate technologies to strengthen and enhance teaching and learning.
