Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools seeks an English Language Arts Teacher to deliver a standards-based program for the assigned grade level and subject area. The role reports to the principal and operates on a 9-month (187-day) schedule, with a salary that reflects degree level and system policies.

The teacher will implement a robust educational program using the required course of study and research-based instructional practices, while integrating technology to support student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college.
• A valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate.
• Must meet ESSA federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements.

Responsibilities

• Use technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
• Model appropriate and innovative use of technology for students.
• Facilitate and monitor the integration of technology in the classroom.
• Provide modifications for students with special needs, including exceptional education students and students who have limited proficiency in English as required.
• Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials and resources which support learning objectives and address students' varying learning styles and backgrounds.
• Establish routines and uses appropriate behavior management procedures.
• Participate in administration of local and state testing as assigned.
• Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress; interprets and uses data for instructional planning and program evaluation.
• Communicate high learning expectations for all students and establishes learning targets that are relative to real world experiences.
• Use appropriate techniques and strategies to enhance the application of critical, creative and evaluative thinking capabilities of students.
• Provide instruction on safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment.
