Job summary

Apple is seeking a product design engineer for the Beats Accessories Product Design team to conceive, design, test, and bring into production a diverse array of accessory products. You will collaborate with Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Reliability, Software, and Marketing to define objectives and validate performance through mass production.

The role requires 2+ years in product design, a BS in Mechanical Engineering, DFM/DFA, tolerancing, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of product design experience or equivalent.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) experience.
• Experience with tolerancing and material selection.
• Knowledge of finite element analysis.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Willingness to travel internationally (≈10%).

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts including plastic, metal, or softgoods parts.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams on integration and performance requirements.
• Create 2D drawings and review dimensional inspection reports.
• Perform engineering analysis to ensure designs meet lifecycle requirements.
• Support factory builds and on-site development activities, including periodic international travel.
• Conduct failure analysis and determine corrective actions.
