Simpson County School District is seeking a licensed 3rd grade teacher for an elementary setting. The role requires leading students toward intellectual and emotional growth, planning and implementing standards-aligned instruction, and using diverse assessment methods.

Responsibilities include differentiating instruction, collaborating with staff, engaging families, and maintaining a safe classroom environment. The position is full-time for 187 days with a competitive salary range.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s preferred).
• Hold Valid Mississippi Teaching Credential and License.
• Appropriate endorsement and training for assigned courses.

• Differentiates instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels.
• Implements adopted curriculum subject matter standards and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals.
• Plans lessons in a logical sequence.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the subjects to be taught and the relationship to other subjects.
• Reflects on teaching and devising ways of improving performance on an ongoing basis.
• Collaborates with other educators to create the most complete educational environment.
• Uses a variety of assessment techniques and models to evaluate student performance.
• Uses formative assessment to improve instruction.
• Assumes responsibility for, and ensures adequate yearly progress as determined by local, state, and federal standards.
• Participates in the referral-to-placement process for students being referred for Child Study.
• Utilizes technology in the teaching and learning process.
• Provides a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning.
• Implements approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management.
• Relates to parents and other community members in a positive and helpful fashion.
• Writes, speaks, and presents instruction clearly and concisely.
• Participates in professional growth to maintain licensure and support school improvement efforts.
• Adheres to policies and procedures established by district, state, and federal guidelines.
• Submits required reports promptly and accurately.
• Accepts responsibility for classroom materials, textbooks, and equipment.
• Accepts co-curricular and extra-curricular duties as assigned.
• Participates in teams and school functions.
• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Supports Simpson County School District’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Principal.
