3rd Grade Teacher
Position Overview

Elite School Staffing is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and student-centered 3rd Grade Teacher to join our team within the Service Learning District for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about elementary education and committed to creating a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

The 3rd Grade Teacher will provide developmentally appropriate instruction across core subject areas while establishing strong classroom routines, maintaining high academic expectations, and supporting the individual needs of each student. The successful candidate will utilize differentiated instruction, ongoing assessment, and data-driven teaching practices to promote student achievement and continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum Implementation:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with grade-level standards and district-approved curriculum.
  • Provide instruction across core academic areas, including English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
  • Develop students' reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, writing, grammar, and communication skills.
  • Provide mathematics instruction focused on computation, number sense, problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and grade-level concepts.
  • Incorporate hands-on activities, technology, collaborative learning, and other instructional resources to support student engagement.
  • Differentiate instruction to address varying academic abilities, learning styles, and individual student needs.
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction when additional academic support is needed.
  • Create meaningful learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, independence, and a love of learning.
  • Modify instructional strategies and lesson plans based on student performance and identified areas of need.
Assessment & Student Achievement:
  • Administer classroom, benchmark, and other required assessments to monitor student progress.
  • Analyze assessment and student performance data to identify strengths, areas of need, and opportunities for instructional improvement.
  • Use assessment results to adjust instruction and provide targeted academic interventions.
  • Monitor student progress toward grade-level standards and instructional goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, academic performance, and student progress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students regarding academic performance and growth.
  • Collaborate with intervention staff and other instructional personnel to support students requiring additional academic assistance.
  • Participate in MTSS and other student-support processes as appropriate.
Classroom Management & Student Development:
  • Establish clear classroom expectations, routines, procedures, and behavioral standards appropriate for third-grade students.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
  • Implement consistent classroom management strategies that promote respect, responsibility, and student engagement.
  • Support students' social-emotional development and help students develop appropriate communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, perseverance, and a positive attitude toward learning.
  • Maintain an organized classroom environment that supports student learning and engagement.
  • Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned activities.
  • Address student behavior consistently and in accordance with school-wide expectations and policies.
Family Communication & Collaboration:
  • Establish positive and professional relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, academic needs, classroom expectations, and accomplishments.
  • Collaborate with grade-level colleagues to plan instruction, review student data, and share effective teaching strategies.
  • Work closely with special education teachers, paraprofessionals, interventionists, instructional coaches, and other support staff.
  • Participate in parent conferences, staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when communicating student information.
Professional Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans, instructional records, student documentation, and other required records.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to strengthen instructional practices and remain current with effective elementary teaching strategies.
  • Support school-wide academic, behavioral, and cultural initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA, district policies, and applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Contribute positively to the overall school community and maintain a professional, collaborative, and student-focused approach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Education, or a related field required.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate elementary certification/endorsement required.
  • Knowledge of Michigan academic standards and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
  • Additional coursework or training in literacy, mathematics, instructional technology, or social-emotional learning preferred.
Experience:
  • Previous elementary classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching third grade preferred.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction, small-group instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies preferred.
  • Experience working with students from diverse academic, developmental, and cultural backgrounds preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of third-grade academic and developmental needs.
  • Strong knowledge of elementary literacy, reading comprehension, writing, and mathematics.
  • Excellent classroom management and instructional delivery skills.
  • Ability to create engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Strong communication, organization, time-management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students and families.
  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, support staff, and families.
  • Commitment to maintaining high academic expectations while providing appropriate support for every student.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and move throughout a third-grade classroom and school environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to work directly with students and assist with classroom activities and transitions.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move instructional materials and classroom supplies weighing up to approximately 25 pounds.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to student needs and emergency situations.
  • Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, lunchrooms, and other school settings.
