Job summary

IDEX Corporation in Portage, Wisconsin is offering an internship to engineering students to participate in developing, prototyping, and testing components used in optics manufacturing. You will contribute to product development tasks, create parts in SolidWorks, and help validate processes while collaborating with a dynamic team.

The role supports hands-on learning through real projects, with potential continuation through the school year and into summer.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in engineering
• Position could continue throughout the school year and into the summer semester on a part/full-time basis
• Desire to get involved and participate with innovative ideas
• Proficient in CAD (preferably SolidWorks)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge in machining, metal working, and quality control is a plus
• Capable of working independently
• Ability to multi-task and meet short deadlines

Responsibilities

• Undertake and successfully complete product development tasks to include any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product documentation, testing processes, and validating equipment and processes.
• Be part of a team in inventing or creating concepts and designs for new products, processes and test methods.
• Design, procure and fabricate simple tooling and fixtures.
• Designs and performs engineering tests and experiments.
• Prepare standard reports to communicate results to technical team.
• Design parts on SolidWorks.
• Prototype and test parts for current and future products.
• Identify areas for improvement, suggest solutions and submit idea records.
