Job Description

The Academy of Science and Innovation seeks a creative, high-energy, and student-centered secondary (grades 6-12) technology/engineering teacher. Candidates should have a broad understanding of engineering content, principles, and applications. Knowledge of robotics and coding is preferred.

Technology Education teachers work under the supervision of their school principal, performing essential responsibilities including:

  • Developing and administering technology education curriculum aligned with district goals.
  • Teaching skills in mechanics, drafting, electricity, electronics, metalwork, graphic arts, woodworking, or related fields.
  • Designing activities that demonstrate the application of technical skills to real-life situations and guiding students in project selection.
  • Creating lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate sequential learning, challenge students, and optimize instructional time.
  • Assessing student progress regularly and adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs, including students with special needs; conducting individual and small group instruction as necessary.
Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Note: This description illustrates typical tasks and is not exhaustive.

Qualifications
  • Certification area: 047 Technology Education, PK-12
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an education discipline applicable to the teaching assignment from an accredited college or university.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Prior successful teaching experience at the appropriate grade level is preferred.
