King & Spalding is a leading global law firm committed to excellence, innovation, and seamless legal service delivery. The Innovation Attorney works within the litigation practice, advising lawyers, matter teams, and clients on cutting‑edge legal technologies and workflow enhancements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with litigation practice groups to develop strategies that optimize efficiencies and improve service delivery through generative AI and other technological resources.
  • Engage directly with practitioners, roll up sleeves, and apply solutions to specific matters in a tailored manner.
  • Act as a catalyst for replicating practice group successes by applying lessons learned from one team or matter to others, thereby magnifying innovation impact.
  • Configure legal technologies and platforms to meet practice group needs, including development of templates or custom workflows.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing technology solutions to better serve clients and practice groups, partnering across the technology department and firm on related investments and projects.
  • Serve as a liaison for clients interested in AI collaboration, working with practice groups to meet client needs and demonstrate firm capabilities.
  • Onboard client teams, develop shared workflows, and ensure alignment with client guidelines and requirements.
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding firm legal‑tech functionality, security, and ethical use in service delivery.
  • Work with training and communications teams to implement and support targeted outreach initiatives that increase lawyer awareness and engagement with existing and emerging technologies.
  • Partner with firm teams—including business development, professional development, technology training and communications, talent management, risk management, records, and other technology teams—on cross‑functional projects.
  • Stay abreast of legal industry trends and emerging technologies, and provide updates and analysis to firm management and practice group leadership.
  • Communicate with third‑party vendors to foster strong relationships and exchange information about new and existing products and services, while building strategic relationships with industry organizations and innovation thought leaders.
  • Protect and maintain sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information related to the firm and its clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet firm goals and objectives.
  • Align working hours as necessary to support global teams and business partners.
Qualifications
  • JD or equivalent, admission to the relevant state bar.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a practicing lawyer in a law firm or in a legal operations role; litigation experience required.
  • Experience and passion for strategic application of innovative technology in litigation at a leading global law firm.
  • Proficiency with legal technology, artificial intelligence, and related tools.
  • Experience participating in strategic legal‑technology projects, particularly evaluating and implementing solutions in a large law firm, corporate legal department, or enterprise‑level environment.
  • Knowledge of the litigation matter lifecycle preferred.
  • Familiarity with techniques that increase adoption of legal‑tech tools and methods for engaging and enabling lawyers.
  • Experience in business analysis, solution design, consulting, and/or client‑facing roles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to apply design thinking and conceptualize end‑to‑end projects.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in clear, non‑technical language to stakeholders.
  • Strong customer‑service mindset and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective team player in diverse environments; thrives under pressure and meets shifting deadlines.

Pay Transparency Range: New York, Washington, DC – Full‑time annualized salary range $160,000 to $250,000.
