Job summary

Shelburne Farms is seeking a seasonal Housekeeper to clean guest bedrooms, cottages, bathrooms and public spaces on-site at 99 Inn Road, Shelburne, VT 05482.

You will greet guests, assist with room readiness, change linens, assist with laundry, and help preserve historic interiors. Weekend/holiday work is required. Shifts are typically 8 AM to 3–4 PM, through Oct 30, 2026. On-site role with seasonal benefits and equal opportunity employment.

Qualifications

• Available to work weekends and holidays as we’re open 7 days a week until the end of October.
• Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
• Welcomes guests and is comfortable working with individuals and groups from all backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Clean and care of all 2nd and 3rd floor bedrooms, bathrooms and public spaces.
• Clean and care of all guest cottages and houses.
• Change bed linens, towels, and replenish guest amenities with sustainable options.
• Assist with daily laundry and care of linens as needed.
• Clean and maintain common areas within the historic Inn, preserving its features.
• Learn and follow proper care of museum-quality furnishings and floors.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and mopping with environmentally friendly methods.
• Greet and assist guests, provide information about rooms, the inn and farm, and offer resources with the guest service team.

Employee Status: Seasonal, Full Time & Part Time hours

Start & End Date: Immediate start - October 30th, 2026

Salary Range: $18-23.50

Work Schedule: 8AM - end of day (typically 3PM- 4PM). We operate 7 days/week and the schedule will vary depending on availability. Weekends & holidays are required.

What You’ll Do

Cleaning and Maintaining

• Cleaning and care of all 2nd and 3rd floor bedrooms (no elevator or lift), bathrooms and public spaces.
• Cleaning and care of all guest cottages and houses (single room and multi-room cottages).
• Change bed linens, towels, and replenish guest amenities with sustainable options.
• Assisting with the daily laundry and care of linens as needed.
• Clean and maintain common areas within the historical Inn, ensuring preservation of its unique features.
• Learning and following proper care of museum quality furnishings, special woodwork and floors, etc.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and mopping using environmentally friendly methods.

Guest Interaction

• Greet and assist guests, providing instructions and information about their room, the inn and farm while offering them additional resources with our guest service team.
• Engage with guests if they’re curious to learn more about our programs, tours, activities, and the general farm if you have first hand experiences to share (you’ll learn a lot in orientation!).

Core Qualifications

• Available to work weekends and holidays as we’re open 7 days a week until the end of October (your work schedule depends on availability but all employees must work at least one weekend day each week).
• Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Available for a seasonally demanding work schedule.
• Moving up and down 1 - 2 flights of stairs while carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Being active for extended periods of time and working in settings with limited air conditioned work environments depending on the location.
• Moving over uneven indoor terrain.
• Working in a fast-paced environment.
