Job summary

Biltmore is seeking a Server to coordinate table service in a fast-paced fine dining environment, ensuring guests receive gracious hospitality in line with Biltmore standards.

Responsibilities include taking orders, inputting into the system, serving wine and courses, handling payments, and maintaining guest relations throughout shifts. Weekend/holiday availability and 18+ age required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum 6 months of full-service restaurant experience, preferably in fine dining/luxury hotel or resort.

Responsibilities

• Take guests' food and beverage orders and upsell where appropriate.
• Input orders into the system and ensure accuracy with the kitchen.
• Retrieve and serve alcoholic beverages from bar/wine station; open/serve wine.
• Serve courses and beverages to guests per established standards.
• Ensure proper silverware and glassware for each course.
• Clear tables, remove soiled wares, and transport to dishwashing area.
• Present guest checks and process payments per procedures.
• Anticipate guests’ needs and maintain positive guest relations.
• Resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfaction.
• Adhere to cash handling, tipping policies, and sales procedures.
• Attend staff meetings, menu tastings, and wine tastings; complete tests.

Job DescriptionThe Server is responsible for coordinating entire table service for guests and communicating with front and back of house personnel to provide a world class dining experience that exceeds guest expectations. Servers will deliver gracious hospitality and ensure all guests receive friendly, courteous and prompt service at all times following prescribed and established Biltmore service standards.Flex: a position working 20-29 hours per week (1,000 - 1,559 hours per year).Weekend and holiday availability is a requirement of this position.Schedule varies, but is typically 6am - 1:30pm. weekend and holiday availability is requiredEssential Job Duties1. Take guests' food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques.2. Input order into system and ensure transmission of food orders is verified by Kitchen.3. Retrieve all alcoholic beverage items from service bar/wine station and serve to guest.4. Open and serve wine/champagne bottles.5. Serve food courses and beverage items to the guest according to established standards.6. Ensure that each guests has appropriate silverware for each course and glassware for beverages ordered.7. Clear each course, remove soiled wares from tables, transport to dishwashing area.8. Present guest checks and process payments according to established procedures.9. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and maintain positive guest relations at all times.10. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.Additional Responsibilities1. Adhere to all self-banking, cash and guest check handling procedures, sales and tip reporting policies.2. Attend staff meetings, menu and wine tastings as scheduled. Satisfactorily complete menu, wine and standards tests.Qualifications1. High school diploma.2. Previous serving experience in a full-service restaurant required. The ideal candidate will have had at least six (6) months of related restaurant experience in a fine dining/upscale setting, preferably in a multi-unit, luxury hotel/resort.3. Demonstrated commitment to delivering world class guest service and anticipating and exceeding guest expectations.4. Excellent guest relation and communications skills are a must; should be comfortable and able to offer warm, sincere, and gracious hospitality to guests.5. Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to handle a variety of guest service situations in a manner consistent with Biltmore standards.6. Terrific attention to details.7. Ability to and comfort with using listening skills and suggestive selling techniques to help meet the dining needs of guests.8. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, guest service environment.9. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.10. Ability to be proactive, exercise good judgment, and take initiative as appropriate. Should be able to creatively problem solve.11. Ability to be professional in both appearance and demeanor in accordance with Biltmore standards.12. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.Physical Requirements1. Lift, carry, push and pull 25–50 pounds; lift and carry 25-50 pounds on a large serving tray, above shoulder level, with one hand, bent in reverse 90 degrees. Servers will run their own food orders.2. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.3. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.4. The employee will work in a restaurant or kitchen environment.5. May often serve in hot interior or exterior areas, and may work double shifts based on business demands.
