GEO Corrections & Detentions seeks a Vocational Instructor to provide classroom-based instruction to inmates/detainees in various labor and technical skills. The role focuses on building a vocational and academic environment that enhances learning potential and enables performing skilled tasks.

The position requires a high school diploma with wage-earning experience or a Bachelor's with teaching experience, plus eligibility for a Florida Educator's certificate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least five years of wage-earning experience.
• Bachelor's degree and two years of teaching experience.
• Must possess or be eligible for a Florida Educator's certificate; if not certified, obtain within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Instruct inmates/detainees in labor and/or technical skills through classroom instruction, demonstrations and practical exercises.
• Maintain testing records, attendance, and general records.
• Assess educational needs and develop lesson plans; provide individualized assignments and training.
• Administer, score and interpret examinations and proficiency indicators.
• Counsel students on performance, behavior and personal issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma/equivalency + 5 years wage-earning work experience

Bachelor's degree + 2 years teaching experience

State of Florida Educator's certificate (or eligible)
