The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of wage-earning experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 2 years teaching experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years wage-earning experience.
• Bachelor's degree plus 2 years teaching experience.
• Eligible for Florida Educator's certificate; must obtain certification within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• The Vocational Instructor provides instruction to inmates/detainees for various labor and/or technical skills through classroom instruction, demonstration and practical exercises.
• Maintains records including testing, daily offender work, attendance and general record keeping.
• The Vocational Instructor assesses educational needs of inmates, develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individualized assignments and training.
• Administers, scores, and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators.
• The Vocational Instructor counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and personal problems.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education

High school diploma/equivalency + 5 years wage-earning experience

Bachelor's degree + 2 years teaching experience

State of Florida Educator's certificate eligibility
