Job summary

Denton County, Texas is seeking a Mental Health Assessment Specialist to perform mental health intake assessments for inmates in the county jail and to provide follow-up assessments and counseling services. The position emphasizes conducting suicide screening, crisis counseling, and ensuring continuity of care through discharge planning and collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services or related field required to qualify as QMHP.
• Minimum 1 year prior experience in mental health or counseling required.
• Licensure as LPC/LCPC/LSW preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform mental health intake assessments and follow-up assessments for inmates.
• Provide individual and group counseling services.
• Conduct suicide screening and crisis counseling for inmates.
• Prepare patient charts and maintain clinical records.
• Coordinate discharge planning and continuity of care with community providers.
