Job summary

Kirby Inland Marine LP is seeking personnel to prepare barges for loading and discharging cargo, maintain vessels, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance onboard tank barges. You will connect/disconnect transfer hoses, build tow, and perform minor repairs as part of daily operations.

The role includes training deckhands to become Tankermen and progressing through sponsored tankerman training programs, under supervision by the Captain/Master or Wheelman on watch.

Qualifications

• Able to follow safety policies and procedures.
• Willing to progress through tankerman training.
• Capable of performing routine vessel maintenance and housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Company safety policies and procedures.
• Perform scheduled vessel maintenance and general housekeeping on vessel and barge.
• Adhere to government regulations and environmental rules.
• Build tow by handling lines and cables to tie/untie barges and boats.
• Make minor repairs to boats and barges.
• Train deckhands to become Tankerman.
• Prepare barges for loading and discharging cargo.
• Load and discharge barges and vessel fuels/lubes.
• Connect and disconnect transfer hoses.
• Care for tools and equipment for boat and barges.
• Work under supervision of Captain/Master or Wheelman on watch.
• Progress through Company training programs.
• Pursue sponsored tankerman training to advance.
