Job description

Regional Program Coordinator

at HealthCorps

San Bernardino, CA

Are you interested in serving your community and empowering the next generation of healthy leaders? HealthCorps and our mission to improve the lives of youth both mentally and physically provides you the opportunity to do just that.

Who We Are

We’re HealthCorps – a national non-profit organization committed to improving lives by addressing health inequities in communities through programming that includes innovative and engaging experiences for teens in education, leadership, and service learning. We empower teens by encouraging them to become change agents within their families, schools, and neighborhoods. Our program is grounded in the understanding that limited access to health education can lead to a lifetime of social, emotional, and physical challenges.

At HealthCorps, our values are the foundation of everything we do. We’re driven by our mission, embrace an innovative and solutions-focused mindset, and believe that our people are our greatest strength. We thrive on collaboration, and we’re committed to fostering an inclusive environment that respects and reflects the varied backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of our team members and the communities we serve.

Where You Fit In

We’re looking for a creative, friendly, self-starter who will implement an innovative community-wide wellness program in San Bernardino, CA that empowers teens to make healthier choices for themselves and their families. You’ll serve as a catalyst for sustainable change, promoting improved health and wellness within schools and the broader communities.

As a Regional Program Coordinator, you will support a team of Regional Program Managers as they train, deploy, and supervise near-peer college mentors from area universities to help deliver HealthCorps’ proven program in local middle schools. The program includes health-promoting events such as Teens Make Health Happen Club, campus activities, and community events. You will engage community stakeholders, including school, district, and university staff, as well as program partners, student wellness officers, and alumni to develop a network focused on community health and wellness.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Strong Relationships: Collaborate with local universities, community partners, schools, and district staff to effectively deliver health and wellness programs across 10–15 school sites.
  • Build and Lead a Team: Support recruitment, training, onboarding, and oversight of near-peer mentors leading in-school program delivery.
  • Assess Community Needs and Progress: Research health inequities and measure impact through reporting and tracking.
  • Support Program Delivery: Ensure successful delivery of program activities and events, including scheduling and logistics.
  • Direct Program Delivery: Teach lessons, host educational events, and participate in community settings as needed.
  • Promote Initiatives: Develop and promote HealthCorps initiatives via social media platforms and stakeholder reports, highlighting student achievements.
  • Commit to Mission: Prioritize health and wellness daily, working to make health accessible for all and leaving a positive community impact.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in related fields.
  • Recent graduate with a passion for health, education, and service.
  • Self-starter, organized, detail-oriented, and creative.
  • Experience or interest in mentoring teens and building relationships.
  • Passion for addressing health disparities.

Skillset:

  • Excellent communication and personable social skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to implement new programs.
  • Growth mindset committed to professional and personal development.
  • Ability to connect with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for extended periods.
  • Travel up to 50 miles within the greater Phoenix, AZ region.
  • Availability for annual training and retreats 1–2 times a year.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

Additional Position Details

This full-time, salaried role offers a comprehensive benefits package. Compensation varies based on experience, skills, and location.

You will work remotely but must reside within the greater San Bernardino area, possess a valid driver’s license, and have a personal vehicle for travel to schools and universities. Travel accounts for 30–40% of your time, with occasional overnight stays. Some hours may be in the afternoon or evening.

We value diversity and inclusion, seeking individuals who share these core beliefs. HealthCorps is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable laws. Background checks are required, and the job offer is contingent upon clearance.
