American Packaging Corporation (APC) is seeking a materials preparer for our pressroom in Chili, NY. This role supports manufacturing by supplying applied materials, labeling batches, and maintaining stock levels.

The position runs on a 7am–7pm 2-2-3 schedule and requires attention to detail, color accuracy, and safety adherence. Responsibilities include recording activities, coordinating with the shift supervisor, and ensuring materials are ready for each press run.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate forklift as required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established color matching and color control procedures for the department.
  • Perform recording, labeling of batch/drum, inventory ticket, and batch ticket documentation.
  • Assist the shift supervisor as required.
  • Blend or prepare applied materials for each press run, including solvents and lacquers.
  • Maintain supply of materials throughout press runs.
  • Receive materials and rotate stock; forklift operations as needed.
  • Follow safety procedures and participate in safety programs.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and strong prioritization skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

LOCATION: Chili, NY

SCHEDULE: 7am - 7pm on a 2-2-3 schedule

SUMMARY: Responsible for supplying the pressroom with all applied materials required for the manufacture of our product line.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Follow established color matching and color control procedures for the department.
  • Perform all necessary recording functions, labeling of each batch/drum, inventory ticket, batch ticket.
  • Assist the shift supervisor as required.
  • Blend or prepare, as required, all other applied materials for each press run, solvent, lacquers, adhesives.
  • Maintain supply of materials throughout the press runs.
  • Receiving of materials and rotating stock (includes forklift operations).
  • Follow all department and plant safety procedures and be an active participant in our safety programs.
  • Job requires a high level of self-motivation and advanced prioritization skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
