Job summary

American Packaging Corporation in Story City, IA is seeking a pressroom materials handler for the 12-hour night shift (7pm–7am). You will supply the pressroom with solvents, lacquers, adhesives and other materials, and maintain stock levels to ensure uninterrupted production.

Responsibilities include following color matching procedures, recording batches, assisting the shift supervisor, rotating stock with forklift operations, and adhering to all safety rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1–3 months related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

LOCATION: Story City, IA

SHIFT

12 hr Nights, 7pm-7am

SUMMARY: Responsible for supplying the pressroom with all applied materials required for the manufacture of our product line.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Follow established color matching and color control procedures for the department.
• Perform all necessary recording functions, labeling of each batch/drum, inventory ticket, batch ticket.
• Assist the shift supervisor as required.
• Blend or prepare, as required, all other applied materials for each press run, solvent, lacquers, adhesives.
• Maintain supply of materials throughout the press runs.
• Receiving of materials and rotating stock (includes forklift operations).
• Follow all department and plant safety procedures and be an active participant in our safety programs.
• Job requires a high level of self-motivation and advanced prioritization skills.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
