Job description

The Ink & Plates Technician will work with the graphics team, manufacturing manager, operators, and lithography specialists to confirm that each job on the production floor is accurate. This position will ensure that revisions are communicated and processed correctly, ensuring color standards are within the appropriate Light, Target and Dark range. The Ink & Plates Technician will engage in learning the plate making process, offering additional backup to Pre-Press & Plate Technicians when applicable. The Ink & Plates Technician will report to the Ink & Plates Lead Technician.

Job Duties:

• Receive job specifications and generate job set-up sheets to communicate specific information regarding orders.
• Prepare each job with necessary materials and documentation.
• Document how ink was mixed for jobs or any revisions to orders.
• Follow ink mixing from previous orders that has been documented.
• Examine plates for errors and defects and compare it against the blue line and color separations to determine accuracy in print height, text and revisions.
• Examine and clean plates before storage after a job is complete.
• Work with the Sr Graphic Designer in testing a new standards process.
• Become fluent in understanding and operating the Laser Engraver equipment safely and efficiently.
• Authority to stop and/or modify work processes due to non-conformance and/or unsafe working conditions.
• Report all potential food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager.
• Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

• 3-5 years’ experience in Lithography or Graphics.
• Ability to detect color and understand reactions.
• Ability to operate a computer and use Windows operating system.
• Ability to problem solve and remain organized.
• Must be a team player and possess a 'can do' attitude.

This position performs job duties in the Ink & Plates lab located on the shop floor. This position occasionally walks through the manufacturing floor where machinery produces loud noises. In addition, this position will use computers, telephones, and printers to perform job duties.
